Oct 1, 2024 · I tried the bottle trap for about a month and gave up. I took a wet vac and taped a 1/2"ID tube to the vacuum attachment. Once I saw what hole the mantis shrimp is peeking out of, I then bait it out a bit with frozen shrimp on the long tweezers. Once it starts going after the bait, I suck it out. Was able to get 2 mantis shrimp this way.

Feb 25, 2020 · I beg to differ, sir. I have yet to see this with any of the 5 stomatopods I have kept with fish. Generally, they seem disinterested entirely in fish. My O. scyllarus even used to share a burrow with a lawnmower blenny. Of course, there is no guarantee but I have yet to see a stressed fish with any of my mantis shrimp.
