The confusion around Microsoft updates continues. Just as it releases the last Patch Tuesday of 2024, with a new zero-day amongst 71 vulnerabilities, it also warns 400 million users they risk losing access to future security fixes if they update their PCs.

Microsoft has started testing some improvements to its Phone Link app for iPhone users. Windows Insiders can now try out a new way to share a file from an iPhone to a PC and vice versa, making the experience a little more like file sharing with an Android device.

Microsoft announced on Wednesday that it’s starting to roll out a way for users to share files between their iPhone and Windows 11 or Windows 10 PCs via the company’s Phone Link app and Link to Windows app.

Microsoft updated its support page to warn users not to run Windows 11 on an unsupported PC, but the company also has official instructions on installing the operating system on devices that don't meet minimum requirements. Generally, that means PCs with a TPM 2.0 chip — a security chip required for Windows 11.

Microsoft has brought down the eligibility rules surrounding Windows 11 before severing support for the world's most popular OS, Windows 10.
