The U.S. and Ukrainian defense chiefs on Monday discussed Russia's use of new ballistic missiles, preparations for the next meeting of arms donors and plans for Washington's military aid next year, both sides said.

"Their accuracy, in principle, is not very high. We understand that the technologies by which they were manufactured are outdated," Andrii Cherniak, a military intelligence spokesperson, told Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

His statement follows the earlier numerous reports about North Korean soldiers stationed in Russia's Kursk Oblast, and even the first clashes with them in November. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says he wants to work “directly” with US President-elect Donald Trump and is open to his ideas, highlighting Kyiv’s eagerness to keep its most important ally onside as Russia intensifies its attacks.

In further remarks to Sky News, the UK’s former representative to Nato, Sir Adam Thomson, said Mr Zelensky appeared to be preparing domestic audiences for compromises, while “making opening moves” in a likely extended negotiation with Mr Trump over which line to take with the Kremlin.
