A$AP Rocky will star in Spike Lee's new film "Highest 2 Lowest," taking on the character of Yung Felon in the crime thriller.

IndieWire reports that the ASAP Mob member will star in Spike Lee ’s new film Highest 2 Lowest, a reimagining of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 thriller, High and Low. Rumors of Rocky’s involvement surfaced after set photos showed him playing the character Yung Felon.

Spike Lee discussed Highest 2 Lowest, his remake of the 1963 Akira Kuwosawa movie High and Low. Lee said the movie will star Denzel Washington as a music mogul and A$AP Rocky in the lead role.

Kurosawa’s High and Low is loosely based on Ed McBain/Evan Hunter’s 1959 novel, King’s Ransom. The Japanese crime film follows a company executive who becomes a victim of extortion when his employee’s son is kidnapped for ransom. It starred Toshiro Mifune and Tatsuya Nakadai.

In April, it was revealed that Ice Spice would make her acting debut in Spike Lee’s English-language reinterpretation of the 1963 Akira Kurosawa crime thriller High And Low alongside Denzel Washington.
