Gayle King, Katy Perry and Jeff Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sanchez are set to blast off into space for a historic launch with the Amazon CEO’s Blue Origin craft this spring.

Now she'll be boarding Blue Origin 's New Shepard rocket, along with a few other celebrity and high-profile crewmates: CBS Mornings' Gayle King and Jeff Bezos' fiancée Lauren Sánchez, who founded Black Ops Aviation, an aerial film and production company.

Katy Perry, CBS News’ Gayle King and Jeff Bezos’ fiancée, Lauren Sánchez, are heading to space on Blue Origin’s historic all-women mission, the company announced Thursday.

Gayle King has been named to a space crew taking on a historic mission. According to a press release from Blue Origin, the veteran journalist will be part of an all-woman collective heading to outer space in a landmark journey.

“I don’t know how to explain being terrified and excited at the same time. It’s like how I felt about to deliver a baby,” King said during the announcement on CBS Mornings. “I thought I wanted to open myself up to new adventures and step out of my comfort zone.”

Space company Blue Origin’s next mission will be powered by a history-making crew of heavy hitters, including journalist Gayle King, pop star Katy Perry and philanthropist Lauren Sánchez.

The mission, which was announced on Thursday, will mark the 11th human flight for Blue Origin’s New Shepard program.
