The U.S. Department of Education informed Harvard University on Monday that it was freezing billions of dollars in research grants and other aid until the elite university concedes to a number of demands from the Trump administration,

The Education Department notified Harvard University on Monday that it would be ineligible for new federal research grants.

In order to reinstate its eligibility, the official said, the university "would have to enter into a negotiation with the government to satisfy the government that it's in compliance with all federal laws.
