A winter storm slammed Maine with several inches of rain and gusty winds Wednesday night and Thursday morning, though the state escaped the flooding some forecasters had predicted. While the storm caused power outages and cancelled classes at schools across the state, Maine’s rivers largely stayed below flood levels.

A storm that brought powerful wind gusts to Maine also delivered well over 2 inches of rain to many communities in the state, including some that saw 3 inches of rainfall. The Portland Jetport saw 2.33 inches of rain,

The National Weather Service says there is a strong possibility of power outages and flooding from Wednesday's storm, which is expected to last through the night.
