Gov. J.B. Pritzker on Tuesday signed a long-awaited bill to stop Illinois organizations from paying less than the minimum wage to workers with disabilities.

More than a dozen states have already enacted legislation to phase out sub-minimum wage allowances for disabled workers.

The Dignity in Pay Act eliminates permission for employers to pay workers with disabilities less than minimum wage. Pritzker said this is a big step towards creating a more equal society for all people.
