Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins has suggested his side were lucky to see Arsenal have a late goal ruled out in their 2-2 draw on Saturday.

By Martyn Herman LONDON (Reuters) -Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins proved a thorn in Arsenal's side yet again as he completed his side's comeback with the equaliser in a 2-2 draw that damaged the London club's Premier League title hopes on Saturday.

Arsenal started the match on top, but didn't really threaten Emi Martinez up until Gabriel Martinelli opened the scoring in the 35th minute. And he scored after a mistake from Ian Maatsen, who didn't know where the Arsenal winger was before he turned in Leandro Trossard's cross.

Arsenal’s Spanish midfielder Mikel Merino smashed the ball home from outside the area in the 88th minute strike to sent the crowd going mal for a 3-2 Arsenal scoreline. But VAR intervened and ruled the ball out for a Kai Havertz handball.

Goals by Youri Tielemans and Ollie Watkins helped Villa recover from a two-goal deficit to secure a thrilling 2-2 draw. Watkins has scored six Premier League goals against Arsenal, including four at the Emirates. He is undoubtedly a thorn in their side.
