The labor agreement governing over 200 ski patrol and mountain safety staff expired in April, leading to months of stalled negotiations. Talks broke down after a mediation session in December, prompting the union to strike on Dec. 27—during the busy holiday season.

The nearly two-week strike hobbled the largest U.S. ski resort during a busy holiday period and sparked online fury about deepening economic inequality in rural mountain areas.

After a strike that lasted nearly two weeks, Park City Mountain and the ski patrol union have reached a tentative agreement, the groups said in a joint statement Tuesday night. The agreement is still pending and will be ratified after a vote scheduled for Wednesday.
