After being on a “short leash” with the Chicago White Sox last season, Garrett Crochet is hoping to push the envelope with the Boston Red Sox this year.

Coming off a year in which they went 41-121 and set the Modern Era record for losses, the White Sox continued to sell off assets heading into 2025, with USA Today thinking they failed to get enough of a return.

The White Sox are one of the few clubs in baseball firmly in rebuild mode. They went 81-81 in 2022, followed by a 61-101 showing the year after. Last year, they reached a historic low, setting a modern-day record with 121 losses.

Walker Buehler and Garrett Crochet give the rotation a huge upgrade; Aroldis Chapman adds a hard-thrower to the bullpen.

They're focused on building the farm system, but their big-league roster doesn't look better than last year's.
