PORTLAND, Maine — As Black History Month approaches, local organizations are spotlighting Maine’s rich and often overlooked Black history. One such effort is a Black History Walking Tour hosted by Black Travel Maine, held Sunday in Portland.

Cracker Barrel, specializing in folksy, Southern-style comfort food, has been in South Portland and 357 Maine Mall Road for close to 15 years. The Tennessee-based company has more than 650 restaurants around the country, though its South Portland location was the only one in Maine.
