WGN Investigates has learned Chicago Police officers are being reminded about what they “can” and “can’t” do if President Donald Trump’s promised immigration raids happen. The directives went into effect in 2021 but have renewed importance this week.

The ordinance prohibits city agencies and employees from participating in civil immigration enforcement or assisting federal authorities with such efforts.

CHICAGO (CBS) — A driver was killed in a fiery crash after leaving the scene of another on the Dan Ryan Expressway Saturday morning. Illinois State Police said the crash happened just before 1:30 a.m. on I-94 southbound at 76th Street.

Charles Witter was waiting at the front door when police arrived and officers immediately took him into custody, officials said. Inside the house, officers found his wife, 80-year-old Helen Witter, “unconscious, lying on her back with her head on a pillow and her mouth open.”
