The man who recorded the video, Sharmake Omar, 30, said in an interview Friday that the 5-year-old child was called the N-word by the woman Monday.

Confronted by smartphone-wielding bystander Sharmake Omar, she "doubled down," lobbing the same slur at Omar and saying she'd caught the 5-year-old boy "digging" through her son's diaper bag.

Faruq Omar, 26, was arrested Friday afternoon on suspicion of second-degree assault and disorderly conduct. Sharmake Omar, 27, was cited by Rochester police with three counts of fifth-degree assault.
