The International Cricket Council (ICC) is reportedly considering a proposal put forward by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to break the deadlock between Pakistan and India over the hosting of the 2025 Men’s Champions Trophy.

While the Pakistan Cricket Board had initially refused to entertain the idea of hosting next year’s Champions Trophy in a hybrid model, under-pressure chairman Mohsin Naqvi appeared to have softened his stance on the matter on Saturday.

PCB is reportedly ready to adopt a hybrid model for the Champions Trophy 2025 after India's refusal to travel to Pakistan. Key conditions include India playing matches in Dubai and neutral venues for Pakistan in future ICC events.

"The current situation is that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said that it will only accept hosting the Champions Trophy on a hybrid model if the board agrees that in future all ICC events will be on same system with Pakistan not going to India to play matches," the source told PTI.

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board and the Board of Control for Cricket in India have retracted from their earlier stance, agreeing to play their future matches in ICC tournaments on a hybrid model and easing the way for next year’s Champions Trophy to be held.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has proposed that it will not send its team to India for any ICC events until 2031. The PCB is demanding that the hybrid model be implemented for tournaments hosted in India, including the 2026 T20 World Cup, the 2029 Champions Trophy, and the 2031 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
