The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently proposed a ‘partnership formula’ or ‘fusion formula,’ a rebranded hybrid model, to address hosting concerns for the Champions Trophy 2025. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly reluctant to accept the plan.

The ICC board is set to meet soon, further developments are on the cards as Jay Shah, the former BCCI secretary, has taken over the chairmanship of the ICC.

India are scheduled to host multiple ICC events in the next decade, including the Women's ODI World Cup 2025 and the T20 World Cup in 2026 jointly with Sri Lanka. The 2029 Champions Trophy and 2031 ODI World Cup are also scheduled to be held in India.

According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, the PCB is ready to accept a hybrid model for the Champions Trophy, provided they get a written agreement from the ICC and the BCCI ensuring similar arrangements for Pakistan in future ICC events hosted by India.

With Pakistan seeking to host their first major ICC tournament in nearly three decades, the ICC Board’s meeting will determine the schedule of the tournament, indicating where each team will play and likely also reserving a neutral venue.

PCB have shown willingness to accept the proposal, in a recent ICC meeting, they have urged the governing body to follow the same model when the upcoming ICC events will be held in India. India is set to host the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup, and 2026 T20 World Cup (along with Sri Lanka).
