Fox News topped the ratings in January, posting big gains from a year earlier, while MSNBC saw signs that viewers were coming back after a post-election tune out. In primetime, Fox News averaged 2.78 million viewers,

CNN did (as usual) outdraw MSNBC among adults 25-54 for the month, averaging 80,000 such viewers for the full day and 118,000 in primetime to MSNBC’s 45,000 and 63,000. Fox News was again far ahead with 253,000 adults 25-54 for the full day and 353,000 in prime.

CNN also lost a good chunk of its audience, going from 754,000 average viewers in primetime that last full week before voting to 398,000. For key timeslots, most of the viewers have returned, but CNN’s ratings were already lower than MSNBC prior to the election.
