A man was hit by an Amtrak train and died around 10:30 p.m. Nov. 22 at the Bakersfield train station, according to the Kern County Coroner's Office.

A new route for a segment of California’s proposed bullet-train line into Bakersfield was approved Tuesday, Oct. 16, by the California High-Speed Rail Authority board.

A future high-speed rail station in Bakersfield is planned for the area near State Route 204 and Chester Avenue, south and east of the Kern River.
