COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Ohio residents may have a financial windfall waiting for them from the nearly $5 billion in unclaimed funds. The new state budget outlines that $1.7 billion in unclaimed funds will be used for various projects, including a $600 million allocation for the Cleveland Browns' new stadium in Brook Park.

Ohio has a $4.8 billion unclaimed property fund, which includes various sums of money owed to state residents. Among those with unclaimed assets is former Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield. There exists a 10-year time limit on those funds before the money is transferred back to the state.
