The NFL has suspended Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair for delivering an illegal hit to the head of Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

Tom Brady suggested that quarterbacks should be fined or penalized for sliding late in order to deter defensive players' late hits on signal-callers.

Houston – Houston's Azeez Al-Shaair was suspended by the NFL without pay for three games Tuesday for repeated violations of player safety rules following his violent hit to the head of Jacksonville's Trevor Lawrence, which led to a concussion.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are considering shutting down quarterback Trevor Lawrence for the rest of the season. It's the smart thing to do, especially with the Jaguars (2-10) all but eliminated from playoff contention headed into Sunday's game at Tennessee (3-9).

No one wants to see any player take a vicious hit like the one that knocked Trevor Lawrence out of the game. It’s easy to agree on that point. Eliminating violent shots is the hard part. The NFL has instituted several rules to protect quarterbacks but football is a physical sport and players have to react instantly and make split-second decisions going at high speeds so injuries keep occurring.
