The bear was one of four cubs that emerged in 2020 with their mother, Grizzly No. 399, who was often called the world's most famous grizzly bear.

MOOSE, Wyo. — A grizzly bear was struck and killed by a vehicle at Grand Teton National Park. National Park Service wildlife rangers found a five-year-old male grizzly bear along Highway 26 within the park east of the Buffalo Fork River on Tuesday. Using ear tags, the bear was identified as Grizzly No. 1058.

Grizzly No. 1058, one of Grizzly No. 399's four cubs, was fatally struck in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park. The deceased bear's body was discovered on Tuesday, May 6.
