Boston celebrated its Centennial, with Sunday’s game taking place exactly 100 years after their first game in franchise history, a 2-1 win against the Montreal Maroons on Dec. 1, 1924. The Bruins held a pregame ceremony that featured tribute videos and appearances from franchise legends such as Bobby Orr, Ray Bourque, Patrice Bergeron and more.

Charlie McAvoy and Charlie Coyle each scored twice as the Boston Bruins celebrated their centennial anniversary with a 6-3 win over the visiting Montreal Canadiens on Sunday afternoon.

In their 100 years in the league, the Bruins have won the Stanley Cup six times; the first coming in 1929 over the New York Rangers, and most recently in 2011 against the Vancouve

The Montreal Canadiens finish their weekend twofer at TD Garden against the Boston Bruins. Although the game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m., the Bruins will celebrate their 100th anniversary with a pregame ceremony expected to last until 4:15 p.m. (SN, RDS, TSN Radio 690, 98.5 FM).

Boston’s Centennial Game ceremony took place on the TD Garden ice more than an hour ahead of puck drop between the Bruins and Canadiens — with decades of spirited scraps, hockey legends, and iconic plays chronicled in the extended celebration of the oldest U.S.-based club in the NHL.
